Amella Venkalli is well-known sailor from Sasserine, who has been in the employ of the House of Vanderboren for several years.
Amella appears as a slight but powerfully built Ralani woman, with long, blond hair tied neatly behind her head, who dresses to fight and sail, rather than to please the eye. A thin scar graces her right cheek. Perhaps because she lives near the harbor, in the Azure District of Sasserine, Amella is rather foul-mouthed; fond of uttering oaths only heard in the worst dockside taverns.
Confident, haughty, and astute, she does not suffer fools gladly. She makes few attachments, having buried one husband, a dashing sea captain named Heldram Flashwell.
The couple once ran a small smuggling operation some distance from Sasserine, but were betrayed by a nasty group of Eloysian pirates led by a treacherous cur nick-named "Shifty."
The cruel pirate murdered her husband, and his death event left Amella with a poor opinion of Eloysians. She makes friends slowly, but once someone has earned her trust, she’s quite loyal, despite her gruff outward demeanor.
Amella was once Captain of the Blue Nixie; a small cargo ship owned by Lavinia Vanderboren, before it was impounded by agents of the Harbormaster.
Recently, Amella has been appointed as the Captain of the Sea Wyvern.
