Atanavar is Corwyn’s God of Knowledge.

As one of the first generation of the Malkar; Atanavar was created directly by the Unnamed One, and is the father of Nerydia, the Goddess of Magic. Atanavar is the master of all knowledge in the world.

As such, he is also the Patron-Deity of learning, monks, teachers, scholars, sages, libraries, and all books and tomes. His symbol is a great silver Key, made from the first star of enlightenment in the night sky of Corwyn.

Atanavar is a reserved God, and his followers are quite peaceful and keep mostly to themselves, quietly devoting nearly all their time to study and meditation. Atanavar’s followers black robes to represent the dark void of ignorance that knowledge fills, and are usually great sages and scholars. Atanavar has no known temples, but his followers believe that libraries serve that same purpose to glorify his power and thirst for learning.

In fact many monasteries are dedicated to Atanavar and the pursuit of learning, and are considered sacred territory to his worshippers. The most famous of these monasteries is the Academë. As one of the first generation of neutral deities, Atanavar has no rivals, nor equals.
