This fortress guards both the Pirate Coast and the Serathian border with the Reach. Historically, Castle Seaguard has been a strong bastion of defense against raids by the Corsairs of Tar Vielca, but has also served a darker purpose. The fortress has long been used by the Serathians as a staging base for their own bloody raids into the Reach.

The Saltcliffe Road passes by this fortress on its route between Saltmarsh and Karameikos.
