Derilon Drax was an ancient Ruendi warlord who, in the Third Age, founded a small settlement named "Derilath," and ordered a massive castle built upon on a hill overlooking it, which became known as "Castle Obsidian."
House Drax
After Derilon's death, his descendants continued to rule the growing city for many centuries.
By the early Fourth Age, Lord Ivanor Drax was forced to submit to Lord Algerd Baranov, who was proclaimed the first King of Thalar, a nation which encompassed all of the Northern Peninsula.
After the terrible Storm of the North, Thalar was destroyed along with the city of Al-Enoth. The Drax family survived, and proclaimed itself ruler of the "City-State of Derilath."
For centuries, the Drax family continued to hold the city and their castle, until the early years of the Fifth Age. House Drax was challenged by Lord Kren Alaghon, who was on a campaign to unite the North into a single kingdom, under the banners of the newly-established Ravinian Empire.
Lord Vorland refused to submit, and engaged Lord Kren in the War of the Frozen Snow. Ultimately, he was slain at the Battle of Skåaven.
With the destruction of House Drax, Kren took over the family castle and established a new Kingdom called "Marundi."
