(623/5) Fessenden was the site of a horrific battle between the Third Alliance of men, elves, and dwarves, against the forces of Sorimmar’s alliance.
During the decisive week-long battle, a small dwarvish army of 30,000 stopped Sorimmar’s army along the eastern shores of the Anglarand River and forced them on the defensive.
But the armies of Drakhara were not completely defeated and for the next three years, both sides would remain in a stalemate.
The hero of this battle was the Dwarf-King Durlag Vraiken, whose dwarvish army fought almost to its last living warrior, holding out for seven days against an army ten times its size.

This gigantic battle is considered the turning point in the War of the Cataclysm, costing the lives of 25,000 dwarves and 100,000 orcs and eastern men.
