Margrave Lars Montrose

Lars Montrose was a powerful Vaas ruler of the Stronghold of Lakewood at the time of the Wars of Destiny. Lars was member of the House of Montrose.

After his forces were defeated in a number of skirmishes, Lars wisely relaized he could not prevail. He then rode into the camp of Erin Fremantle and negotiated favorable terms to allow his people a certain degree of Independence.

Under Lars, the forces of Lakewood than switched sides and fought the remainder of the war on Erin's side. Even today, there is resentment against the Thessalans for this"betrayal."

After hostilities ended, King Erin granted the title of "Viscount" to House Montrose and their territory became a "Freehold" of Erindar.
