Samaritha Beldusk is a member of the Order of Cyphers in Varistan.
Samaritha appears as a young, attractive half-elven woman, with long blonde hair and distinct, elven features.
She joined the Order a few years ago because of a life-long interest in discovering the ancient mystery of the Cyphergate. Because of her exceptional magical skills, she has become a favorite apprentice of Beltran.
Recent Events
Before she became an adventurer, Samaritha joined the Order of Cyphers in Varistan and dreamed of one day discovering the secret of the Cypher gate. For years she worked as apprentice to her mentor, a kindly old man named Beltran.
Samaritha eagerly joined the expedition to Devil’s Elbow and feels lucky to have survived. But although she is heartbroken for Beltran who died after being bitten by an Akata, she felt she must go on.
After she spent many hours eagerly delving into the Drow laboratory materials and notebooks kept by the Xa’Keen, she had a moment of illumination. She not only discovered the purpose of the arch, but also how to actually operate the device.
It turned out that the strange round ports along the top of the Cyphergate, which had long believed to have been for drainage, were for nothing of the sort!
In truth, those openings were fueling ports. An obscure magical substance known as "Antediluvian Ichor," could be poured into the arch and it would become empowered. Once the arch was empowered, the magical glyphs covering its surface would begin to glow and change their shape!
This feature was why no one had ever before deciphered the glyphs, because in their dormant form, they were simply gibberish. Samaritha was even more elated to have found a large vial of the Aboleth-made Ichor in the Drow Laboratory.
Samaritha is now confident that using the ichor, and empowering the correct glyph, she can empower the arch to take any ship passing underneath it far across the world to any given port.
To use the arch for time travel or to travel between worlds would take literally gallons of the arcane substance, and Gods only know where more of the Ichor can be procured.
Samaritha is confident that there is enough of the Ichor to power the gate for one good trip. The question remains, to where???
