The Saugreth-Muir; meaning "Outcast Mountains" in elvish, is an enormous chain of mountains that runs for thousands of miles north and south and divides the continent of Corwyn roughly in half. These mountains separate the dark realm of Morgoth from the West.

The large mountain range is also the dividing boundary between the East and the West. This enormous range is also called the ‘Spine of the Realm.’ There are only a few passages through these gigantic mountains, the largest of which is sealed off by the fortress of the Salkröth. More than thirty passages were guarded at one time by men of the West, but now only about a dozen of these border keeps are manned and watchful. Further north, all the ancient outposts along the range are abandoned, and orcs freely cross the Saugreth-Muir and enter the forest of Mystwood to raid and plunder the Pale.
