(1248/4) Stonehedge was the site of a bloody battle which ended the Second Eldaran Civil War.
Rebellious nobles lead by Duke Rygar Alesard defeated the loyalist army led by King Hagar Durethë II, and soon after the king granted the eastern regions of Eldara independence. The loyalist army was poorly led and became outflanked and slaughtered.
Nearly 20,000 Eldaran soldiers were killed or captured, for a loss of only 3,000 rebel troops. King Hagar himself was captured by Rygar's forces, and had to agree to Rygar's terms, which were quite gracious, considering the young King's position.
One of the keys to Rygar's victory was his use of several thousand Kreskan Archers, who, during the chaotic fighting. caused horrific losses among the loyalists.
Soon after the battle ended, the kingdom of Orel was established, and Duke Rygar Alesard was anointed as its first king.
