Lady Zariyeh Durand appears as an attractive female, with long, black hair and piercing green eyes. Only her ridiculously gauche noble clothing and fine jewelry set her apart from any other Orellian Aristocrat.
Zariyeh's face is usually in a smile, though it quickly turns to a sneer when she feels she is losing control of any situation. She is agreeable and endearing to those she considers useful or empowering, but entirely dismissive of what she calls “useless people.”
Outwardly a firm ally of Princess Lorelei and the end of primogeniture, Lady Durand sycophantically trails political power like a wolf chases prey, allying herself with whoever offers her an advantage. Zariyeh is likely to betray her allies should she feel it is to her benefit.

The Durand family is extremely wealthy, based upon its control of several large banks and business syndicates. Today, the family holds much influence with other Exarchs, but is often viewed with mistrust and fear.
